Astec Underground was formed in 2002 as a new division when Astec Industries, a diversified manufacturer of industrial products, executed an alliance with Case to manufacture and market its utility line of trenchers and drills under an exclusive agreement. Astec Underground’s business unit has over 80 combined years of experience designing, building and marketing the American Augers, Trencor , Case, John Deere, and other leading brands.
Situation
The new business launch included picking the “best of the best” marketing methodologies that would allow it to continue its reputation of unparalleled customer service. Astec decided to launch the division with a completely integrated and centralized marketing, order management and dealer support system through an easy to administer and accessible web portal.
Solution - SmartEnterprise Suite
After reviewing more than a half-dozen competitive solutions, Astec Underground chose Conduit’s powerful SmartEnterprise Suite (SES) for its fl exibility and ability to scale as well as ease-of-administration. Conduit’s deployment and professional services teams worked closely with Astec to defi ne a system that included best practices from each brand marketing group to build a complete dealer/channel management system to incorporate marketing, content and sales functions for all the brands under a single system.
Results
The successful launch of Astec’s new Dealer Support System, AsteConnect, dramatically improved the sales, marketing and support services provided to the company’s distribution partners by eliminating manual processes and reducing the time that marketing and service personnel spend on dealer services and support. Astec has the ability to provide channel partners with product information in real-time.
